People not on the forum probably won't get this.

I went to see Tim Minchin live last night. He was (and is) so AMAZING! The show was spectacular, and i was just dazzled by him.

Front row is an amazing experience. The stage was much lower than i thought it would be, and the theatre space was also at least half the size i thought it was. But almost every seat was full. I've played in front of a full audience before. Its so much more nerve racking, but so much more worth it in the end.
I had brought my tshirt that i made, wasn't wearing it in the first half, but decided to put it on for the second half.

I can't precisely remember the order of songs (but i'm looking through the forum to find some kind of similar set lists). He came on to the 'Ready For This?' intro song. Then went on to do 'Prejudice' (is that what its called now?), which was so funny! "....only a ginger can call another ginger Ginger" XD
honesty time:it took me a few choruses to figure out what he was spelling.

He then did his stand-up bit, starting off by scanning the front row and pointing at various shoes and tops etc. He even jumped down from the stage to get a closer look at one guy's shoes, who said "aww, gimme a break man...i've just come from work". Rose was sitting next to me (obviously....where else would she be?), and he paused to look at the shirt she was wearing. It was kind of black and white checks.... he rambled a little bit, before concluding that it looked "country" or "like a table cloth".

Next came 'We all love Jesus/we all hate Fags', which he played on his guitar. The audience joined in without hesitation, although it got increasingly hard to sing the words whilst laughing at what we were supposed to sing. I can't decide whether stopping (seemingly) half way through was on purpose, and for comedy value, or if it was actually just on the spot and because the audience weren't joining in as much.

'The Good Book' is really good. I was wondering what the boot next to the piano was for.

hehe. The Wiggle excited me. I've finally seen it live! I was sitting there, mouthing most of the words. Rose didn't realise what was so special about the Wiggle, i explained afterwards but she wasn't all that bothered. I was walking round the music block in my free today, occasionally stopping to do a wiggle. (I wasn't on my own)

'Confessions (In Three Movements)' is amazing. I have it quoted in my msn name XD

He did 'Canvas Bags' to finish the first act (oooh i make it sound like a drama production XD). He had to run off to grab the fan, and most of us giggled as we realised what it was for. There was much "woo"ing and whistling as he undid his shirt (which was his Vienetta shirt btw), then he got a bit sheepish and tried to cover himself up.

I went out into the foyer to get some merch in the interval. I got a canvas bag and the Darkside CD and a free badge. Me and Rose went back in and sat down and i put on my special tshirt that has the patch that Liza made over my right hip. What i hadn't realised was that Shell was sitting next to me with her mum, so we had a nice little chat when she came back and saw the patch.
There was also a chair with a bear suit draped over it.

So obviously 'Bears Don't Dig On Dancing' was the first song. Tim got a heckler down from somewhere near the top to come and put on the bear costume. I knew about half the words to this and i've been singing it all day today.

Here was another talky bit. He talked mainly (from what i can remember) about Sarah and Violet, did the sleeping and coin in mouth jokes. Sarah sounds awesome, i'd love to be one of her friends. And Violet sounds so cute.

Then he did a flawless (:P) link to his next song 'Song For Phil Daoust'. The link included Tim asking the guy he had put in the bear suit, called Adrian, if he'd had any bad reviews (we found out he was an actor....through Tim's questioning). Tim asked "And what did it say in the review?"....someone close behind me shouted "He can't dance!" Which made everyone, including Tim, laugh.

'Youtube Lament' was awesome.

I really loved 'Storm'. I just love his beat poems, i think they're amazing. He plays the characters so well, and i got a pic of him standing as Storm. I also liked the glass of wine, i think it was a nice touch.

He finished with 'Darkside'. I recorded the solo bit, which went on for just over 4 minutes. I started filming just when the big puff of smoke came out, so the first few mins are just red smoke with a vague piano outline. At one point (while i was still filming) he looked down from the piano, and stared right into my camera. It was a bit weird to be honest, and i thought he looked angry for a second.

His encore was 'White Wine In the Sun', for which he felt compelled to explain the difference between British and Australian Christmases. Everyone was silent for the whole song, and the even the air seemed to stand still to listen. It was just magic.

I knew he was going to come out to do signings, although not many others did. I wasn't sure where he was gonna do it though, so we went right downstairs to the bottom in front of the entrance doors. It was a bit chilly, so we went back up a floor, where there seemed to be more people. I spotted the other Angry Feeters and introduced myself, then we all waited for Tim to appear.
He came down the stairs in jeans and a tshirt, sat down at the merch table and starting signing various things and posing for photos.

I was taking the photo for a group of girls who were with him, and one of them saw the patch on my tshirt and pointed it out to everyone else. Tim saw and his face seemed to light up a bit. He signed one of the same girl's baby bump's, and she told him that Dylan Moran had refused to sign her boob when she went to see him live.

Tim took his seat again and was just about to motion me over for a chat, when another guy suddenly jumped in front of the table to ask to get his poster signed. Tim leant around him and made a weird face as if to say "ooo how rude of him". So i waited patiently for him to finish. The guy also wanted a photo, so Tim obliged. As soon as the pic was taken, Tim turned to me, outstretched his hand and said "now, come talk to me". We chatted about who i was and about Liza being awesome and making the patches for everyone. Then he signed my canvas bag, and drew himself as a moose on it XD he also signed my and rose's tickets and had photos with both of us.

It was an amazing night, and one i hope never to forget. I'll have photos up soon.

I can't wait for the DVD to come out. And i can't wait for the DVD of So Live to come out in hmv! A whole month....i hope it goes by fast.

Hope to see everyone at the Christmas show in London.
