A few little anecdotes to share from the last few days.....

I came up with a video idea about a week ago that i started filming at the time, but i need to find a poem or something to go over the top. I also need to start editting the 'girl in the loft' video.

I was sat with some of my friends at lunch yesterday in one of the college buildings. Above us there was a statue of Mary (we presumed it was Mary anyway) and Natalie was trying to guess who it was. She came out with this genius line:

"It could be Jane....you know from John and Jane in the garden of Eden...?"
XD

Last night was a big night for us people at Manc Winds. All the adults who aren't in the Music Service had to leave. And they were told last night.
The majority of us already knew; most other people had heard it from another band they also play in, then Rob told me on Sunday night. Then the word was spread, only a couple of people didn't know by last night. I went straight from college to manc winds with Helen, Mike, Tim, Stacey, Joe and Aaron, and the topic of conversation for almost all the 3 hours in between involved the decision about the adults at manc winds. Ged (who works for the music service and plays percussion in manc winds) was trying to calm us down. But he also kept saying that he wasn't defending either side, even though he was blatantly fighting the music service's side. So we (being the seven (at least) who were together last night) don't like Ged, not that we really did anyway. We don't like Mark Cottam either. He's a manipulative little snake who is secretly controlling the band. He just spreads things and influences you in sneaky ways, and i really don't like those kind of people. Tim was really fired up last night, and Mark made it a whole lot worse by just saying hello to him in particular when he came down stairs and found us sitting, talking about it (although we had seen him first and so made sure he didn't hear any of what we were saying). He did it again a bit later on, which set off Tim (and the rest of us) off again. We went in to set up and the few of us who were there just worked in an awkward, tense silence. Steve, the conductor, came over to our little group and we spoke about it some more.
Karen made the announcement when everyone (who was going to come) had arrived. She asked the adults to go upstairs to talk to Sue Berry (one of the heads of the music service).
At the end of the rehearsal Karen and Steve commented on how well we played without the adults there. Although, the pieces we played were the easiest in the folders, they were all minims and crotchets. It wasn't like we were playing Festivo (manc winds people will understand).
The point is, we weren't just hiding behind the adults to play the harder parts.....i'm on first clarinet and i was playing solos along side Iain (one of the adults who had to leave), but it was just having that reassurance that they were there to cover you if you did ever mess up. They were also the ones we looked up to when we first joined. So that puts a lot of pressure on us to make the band seem as "wow" to the new people now as it was when us lot first joined.

So none of us know how to feel about the whole situation now. For the time being, we're staying. But how long that lasts.......who knows.
